Spiritual Education of Children

Children’s classes offered by the Bahá’í community focus on character development and spiritual education. In these classes, volunteer teachers assist groups of children (ages 5–10) to identify and practice time-honoured values such as truthfulness, kindness, courtesy, generosity, justice, humility, service to humanity, and love and unity, which form the foundation of upright conduct.

“…education is the indispensable foundation of all human excellence…” —’Abdu’l-Bahá (son of Bahá’u’lláh and His appointed successor)
The program is made up of songs, stories, games, creative activities like colouring and drama, and the study of short quotations from the Bahá’í holy writings—all of which convey and reinforce each lesson’s theme. Children are welcomed into a warm and encouraging environment and learn to socialize with one another and with people in their community in positive ways, laying the foundation for a thoughtful and socially engaged life.
